Ezekiel’s Landing – now in production

28 Jan

EL posterKate Chaplin of Karmic Courage Productions is delighted and honored to present Ezekiel’s Landing. This sci-fi, female-led independent film will be directed by James Treakle and co-produced with Valiant Dead.

Plot Outline:

The fraudulent author of an alien abduction memoir and a skeptic with a supernatural secret join forces to fight a UFO cult.

UFO hunter Emma Wright is a believer and a fraud. After a daring interview with professional skeptic Joel Hooper brings her close to admitting that her alien abduction memoirs are pure invention, an obsessive fan, Kass Burroughs, comes to her with a compelling mystery, one that gives her a new reason to believe, and to lie. Before long, Wright and Burroughs discover a deadly secret protected by a small town’s UFO cult — a secret that lies in the skeptical Hooper’s past, and which could destroy his future. It’s up to Wright and Hooper to battle the UFO cult and reveal the truth, about the town and each other, before it’s too late.

Shoki's Bag goldPlanet Victoria is divided into two realms – the human realm and the spirit realm. Even though their relationship is symbiotic, there is a great divide geographically and spiritually between the humans and the spirits of nature. Rejected from society because of his facial disfigurement, Shoki leaves his job as a circus strongman and becomes a Traveler. He carries with him a carpetbag that is filled with black ooze manifested from his shame, regret and failures. He’s determined to rid himself of his baggage but lacks the strength. When Nix, princess of Water Spirits, searches for her kidnapped sister she meets Shoki. Because Nix is wounded and has lost her powers, Shoki reluctantly agrees to help her and return her sister to the water realm. Their journey will not be easy as a war is brewing between the humans and the spirits over a valuable commodity – steam power.

Our Next Production: Mythic Waters Shoki’s Bag

10 Jun

Shoki's Bag Poster

Karmic Courage is pleased to announce our 15th project: Mythic Waters: Shoki’s Bag.

Mythic Waters is fantasy/steampunk trilogy following the adventures of a disfigured ex-circus strongman and a water spirit. The two are caught up in a upcoming war between the Water Realm and the human world starting with the kidnapping of the should-be queen of the Water Realm.

Karmic Courage will first release the novel (of the same name) in fall of 2013. Sales from the book will go toward making the feature film. The feature film is set to go into production in 2014. Gavin Rulon will play Shoki the ex-circus strongman. Kate Chaplin will write and direct.

We’re super excited about this production. It’s a great story full of mythical themes and complex characters. We feel that now we have the resources to make this film a reality and be able to give to the public what they deserve, a good film well told.

In a Jules Verne-type universe, an ex-circus strongman struggles to get rid of a parasitic life force. When he comes across a charismatic water spirit who is searching for a kidnapped princess; the two begin an adventure of personal strength and forgiveness.
